Pinned  Welcome to TAG

Aug 15 2011 05:58 PM | TAGAdmin in Articles

The idea for our adult gaming community started years ago when some friends wanted to play online games together, without kids interfering. Back then, it was tough to get online and have fun and talk with freedom without offending some youngsters. Nowadays, it's hard to get in a public game without being offended by youngsters.

Several of our members started TheAdultGamer, and TAG has grown into a large community of  adults that love video games, and even traditional board games and role-playing games. Our members have a love for Xbox, PS3, PC and handheld games. But we're more than just games. It's a strong community of people from all walks of life that like to have fun. Our forums are full of gaming and non-gaming discussions.

Our minimum requirement is that you must be 21 or older. If you are an adult that enjoys gaming, feel free to register and see what we're all about.

Diablo 3 Review

May 15 2012 07:35 PM | FineAgedTequila in Articles

I don't even know how to begin.  This is going to be a rambling mess, because I'm a little overtired.  For some reason, my eyes opened this morning on their own with no alarm.  I peered at the clock to see 4:58 am.  My first response was that I should roll over and resume sleeping like a normal person.  Then through the fog of sleep I realized that today was the 15th and that meant my copy of Diablo 3 happily installed the day before was ready to be played.

Without hesitation I arose, made a cup of coffee, and sat in my computer chair to embark upon my quest to scourge the world from demons.  I now sit here writing this some 10 hours later, having stopped only long enough to make subsequent cups of coffee along with some hastily prepared nutrition.  The only reason I sit here writing this now at all is that the servers are done for maintenance, otherwise I'd be playing and this review would be delayed.

Right now I'm playing a Barbarian, some nice mindless hack and slash.  I've gotten to around level 21 and can say that the combat is not nearly as mindless as anticipated.  The variety of spells and configuration is awesome.  As you level, you get more abilities as well as runes which change the way different abilities behave.  This manages to keep the game quite fresh.  There are also unlocks to change the way the character plays.

The quests are about what you'd expect, run around clearing dungeons and killing baddies.  But the quests and story are minor selling points compared to the fun of running around killing enemies, clicking like crazy.  Early in the day I was able to join up with a group of 4 and run around and things are very, very fun with more people.  Individual enemies take a lot more damage and definitely require cooperation to kill.  Plus it just becomes madness with 4 characters running around casting spells and hacking away.

The bosses are pretty cool as well so far.  Without any spoilers, they added some mechanics to make the boss fights a little challenging while still being manageable.  And of course, the bosses drop some nice loot.  Loot is good.

The crafting system is pretty awesome.  I've spent all of my gold so far leveling that up and making gear for myself to fill in gaps in loot drops.  I still don't have that many amazing patterns, but I'm starting to get more epic patterns.  And I've been breaking down all my blue gear, so I have a TON of materials stored up for when I can make some better gear.

All in all, the game so far is amazing.  I can't wait to play again as a different character as well as on the higher difficulty settings from when you beat the game.

Anyone who is on the fence should ask someone with the game for a trial code. You get to play the first Act and will get a great flavor for what this game has to offer.  Now I'm going to go see if the servers are back online...

Pinball Arcade [XBLA] Review

May 13 2012 05:44 AM | weedwhat in Articles

http://marketplace.x...adType=GameDemo

So I haven't seen anybody around here talking about this game yet, even though I know some of you enjoy a good pinball machine.  I'm not the best reviewer but I'll give you a short run down of my personal opinion.

7/10

Pros:
classic tables - 4 classic tables that all old school pinballers will recognize.  I however, only recognized two.
good history - every table has it's own history card, that tells you things like when the table was made and by whom, how many tables produced, and firsts in pinball table technology.
upcoming dlc - having about 200 bucks in pinball tables on Pinball FX2 I have no problem shelling out more to have some of the great boards that made the game a staple in our culture.

Cons:
janky controls - not the smoothest physics, especially when compared to PbFX2.  its still a new game though, not updated yet like FX.
snes graphics - feels like playing on an old school console, it adds a little more to the "classic" feel to the game but it also disappoints me that it costs 800 points.
upcoming dlc - having about 200 bucks in pinball tables on Pinball FX2 I have no problem shelling out more to have some of the great boards that made the game a staple in our culture.

If you LOVE pinball then it's a decent game, great game if you can find it on sale one day and don't mind sub par graphics.   I look forward to the dread of buying the new tables when they are released.

The 2011 TAG Fundraiser

Aug 17 2011 03:30 PM | MadWik in TAG News

Some of you have asked how to donate to TAG. Well now's your chance!!

We are starting the 2011 TAG Fundraiser. Last year we had some very generous donations, and because of those we were able to make some recent updates to the site. We also moved TAG to a new host, so hopefully our outages will be a thing of the past. We have enough in our piggy bank to cover the new software, the new site theme and our hosting costs.

There are some other great addons we'd like to implement, and we're starting to see the bottom of the piggy bank. In order to make sure everything keeps running smoothly and so we don't have to beg for funds later right before payment is due, we're going to open a 4 month fundraiser with a goal of $500.

As a little background, we used to raise our money from silent donations and tshirt sales. While these worked really well, it was hard to judge how much we'd have on hand. Starting last year, we did a fundraiser using ChipIn and it worked really well. (Huge Thanks to Everyone that Donated!!) This also allows us to sell shirts with less overhead, making them cheaper for everyone.

As always, all donations will be anonymous. There will be no rewards or accolades for huge donations (except for a big Thank You from Council). We do not want anyone to feel like it is a requirement for membership. The biggest gift anyone can give to TAG is to remain active here, so that we can all game with our friends.

If you would like to donate, please use the ChipIn link on the site, as it will help us better track our donations. (ChipIn uses our PayPal account. If you want to donate another way, please send a PM to Madwik.)

Presenting the New TAG Site

Aug 15 2011 02:00 AM | MadWik in Articles

TAG is now running on a new software platform and on a new server. We are still in the process of setting things up, so if you notice anything odd then it might be something we're still working on.

Our new site has lots of new features, such as the Calendar system and Blogs. With the Calendars we can now setup events with RSVP functionality. So coordinated gaming nights should be easier to plan. The new Blog section will give people the ability to post good information, including game reviews and media trends.

Our Member Chat is now on a hosted service, so the performance should be better. If you notice any problems accessing it, please let Council know.

The site's theme allows you to have a custom background. We will create a list of cool background images. To change your background image, click the 'Change Background Image' icon at the top right (just under the Calendar link) and select one of the pre-loaded backgrounds. Or, enter the full URL (including the 'http://') of an image you'd like to use for your background.

Once we get the site working properly, we'll start adding more new features. And this Articles page will have more relavant information.

Thanks for bearing with us through the migration!
